Daylight saving is wrapping up, Christmas decorations have been well and truly packed away, the days are getting cooler it seems summer is a distant memory as autumn finally arrives in Sydney.

Never one to say no to La Dolce Vita, we jumped at the chance to design a piece for the Italian Chamber of Commerce’s Design of Excellence night. With visions of Vespas, Gelato, and Dean Martin belting out “That’s Amore” we created the invite and overall theme and feel for the night. The event was held down at Wharf 7 where the Camparis and Peronis flowed freely and sharply dressed Italians floated between Missoni designs and Gelatissimo delights. Great night!

As a designer its important to keep your brain ticking and thinking laterally. Freerice.com is a website which does just that… and is doing its bit to help end the world hunger crisis. If you have 5 minutes to spare… give it a go! You might learn something new!

Each issue tells the story of 5 incredible individuals. Kate sums it up best with the intro paragraph “Their backgrounds and dreams are as unique as they are, but what unites them is their creativity, passion and integrity, and somewhere they found the courage to fly. In their own words they tell you how they discovered their passion, what inspires them, the lows as well as the highs on the journey and ultimately why they do what they do”. Its a delicious, inspirational publication that we cant wait to sink our teeth into each quarter. It’s only available at selected stockist or via subscription… It’s a little smaller in height that other magazines…. so look out for it. It might be hiding, just waiting to be discovered!

Before joining the Fresco team in August, I was travelling throughout South East Asia, although spending most of my time in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was helping out at a centre for street children which provides refuge, care and education for close to 80 under-privileged children. Everyday brought new challenges, trying to teach art/creative workshops and assisting in english classes… but it was so much fun!! The children are so endearing and inspirational. It was an amazing adventure!
