It’s no secret to anyone that knows me that I have a special love for pattern design. Orla Keily is one if my favourites, they are individually unique and truly put a smile on my face every time I see one of her latest creations.
I believe that everyone needs a few key pieces about which they are simply crazy about. That’s why I wrote a blog entry that exclusively features my favourite handbag designer of all time – Orla Kiely.

While trawling the web for creative inspiration, i came across this clever French site by designer Mathilde Aubier. Wonderful illustration design, quirky navigation, a distinct child like style, making the site very intimate, as if been invited into Mathilde’s fairytale world. Jen Corace serves up something light & delicate to get us through these goulash & rainfilled months. Her dainty illustrations inspire you not only to run out to the nearest hairdresser to cut you a bob, but also make you want to reach out & touch the page with its amazing attention to detail, especially with the clothes.
Adding to that brilliance are the uber cute titles;
a) Awkward in any situation
b) Preparing for the worst
c) Growing into a respectable lady
These delicate drawings not only inspire my next hair cut, but their subtle colour palettes & the off beat demeanours of the ladies in question leave me longing once again for this older version of illustration as opposed to the edgier types that we seem to see everywhere at the moment.

Inspiration can come in many forms. I was talking to a young designer the other day and she mentioned that she had gained inspiration for a recent project from a pinball machine. I can’t say that a pinball machine is inspiring to me but I guess thats what makes design such a personal thing. Shape, colour, form and texture are all important in design today. Invitations and promotional design always allows room for the most creative freedom.
Inspiration is all around us in our everyday lives…it is how we view the world and what we do with what we see that makes a good designer stand out from the rest. We encourage our designers at Fresco to always think outside the square and to stay inspired.

The creative juices were flowing when Sydney Children’s Hospital presented us with a design brief for the next Gold Dinner Event. Fresco has been involved in the design of these events for the past couple of years – and we love it, its our opportunity to go wild with metallic inks, beautiful stocks, illustrations and other joys that designers cant wait to explore and sink their teeth into. Invitation Design and Program Design were the 2 pieces for this year all themed around the races. The creative tone was elegance, refinement with fun quirky elements to create a talking point. Here’s a sneak preview of the design, you’ll have to wait for our next e newsletter to get the full story… Stay tuned!
