In these times of global warming, we designers are constantly faced with challenges of how we can minimise our footprint on this planet. Its not just using recycled materials and less paper but what about all those ink and toner cartridges piling up in landfill?
Thankfully some clever cats over at Spranq in Holland have come up with an idea for an EcoFont? “Eco what”, you say? Well, Its pretty simple really, it works on the same concept as halftones, using lots of dots with space in between to create a solid area.
The letterforms are filled with tiny little circles and when printed at normal type sizes are undetectable to the naked eye. This results in a font that consumes 20% less ink! With the EcoFont, Spranq are hoping to increase environmental awareness within the creative industries. Eco Font is free to download and free to use…

24-year-old Queenslander Karl Kwasny is the creator of beautiful illustrations. His website (http://monaux.com) showcases a wide range of styles throughout his site, beautiful pencil sketches to inked watercolours reminiscent of someones highschool sketchpad. The imagery is beautiful and unique and kept me captivated to the very last one.
It’s so inspirational I’ve gone out and bought a fresh new sketch pad to somehow emulate his work. He has a wide variety of clients under his belt stretching from Target to Mooks clothing. I am a big fan of using organic earthy illustrations in my design and his seem to blend effortlessly into even the most graphic bold design.

Ever since my interest was established in Graphic Design, I have always been fascinated about Publication Design. What a better way to feed my inspiration than getting my hands on The Publication Design Annual - a showcase of the best in the publishing world each year. Full to the brim with fantastic inspiration it flaunts a range of different magazines featuring amazing photography, unique layouts and some pretty special typography.
The Annual gives merit for a range of different subjects such as; cover design, entire issues, illustration, features story layouts, photography and single page stories. Winners of the much-acclaimed Best Magazine title include; The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Wired, Print, and Blueprint.

The studio has been doing a lot of research into fantastic website design lately, our creative designers have been given the green light to re design the Fresco Creative site, updating with our latest work, giving the overall aesthetics a face lift and designing so the navigation is more intuitive.
A site that i have come across whilst gaining creative inspiration is by French designer Julien Pacaud. Although the site is fairly standard, the illustrations are fabulous! His work is mainly a collage of illustrations taken from old magazines and each given new life in a strange and original way. My French is non existant so luckily the work speaks for itself.

Joshua Davis is a design troublemaker. “A lot of printers ask me how I created my work,” he says mischievously. “Because technically, it’s not actually possible.”
Davis creates electronically generated graphic compositions of almost unimaginable complexity and individuality. Equally at home with print and electronic media, he builds his own Flash-based programs to combine and recombine colors borrowed from nature with forms that include organic shapes, text elements, and other symbols – WOW!
The resulting works of “dynamic abstraction,” as Davis calls them, are fluid, intricate, and unique as snowflakes. There’s an ephemeral quality even to his print work, which captures a single variation in a potentially endless sequence of design permutations – each print he makes becomes a unique edition of the program.
Onscreen or in print, Davis aspires to generate visuals that have never existed before. Such an exciting and mesmerizing designer and coder. Joshua Davis is my new crush!
