There are a lot of things to love about October: the weather greatly improves, you can buy a heap of candy at the supermarket and people will assume its for trick-or-treat-ers (and not that you’re going to eat it all yourself…) and, after months of five-day work weeks, we’re gifted a long weekend!
There’s a lot of sport-related things to occupy these three days, but if you’re more art and design inclined (like us here at Fresco), here’s a few local (Sydney) exhibitions on this weekend that you could check out:
Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition
This weekend is your last chance to view over 100 amazing images submitted from photographers worldwide. Head over to the Australian Museum and check it out while you still can!
Folk bank Little May have engaged 11 of their favourite local artists to create artworks inspired by their LP ‘For The Company’ which is due for release next week. The exhibition will feature work from acclaimed photographers Mclean Stephenson and Prue Stent, Sydney-based muralist Mulga, fashion label Serpent & The Swan, illustrator Georgia Hill, Ears, Honey Long, Antwerpen, Emily Ellis, Furry Little Peach and Luschia Porter. Check it out at Goodspace, above the Gladstone Hotel in Chippendale from Friday 2nd- Sunday 4th October.
A fully immersive retro gaming experience surrounded by urban art, neon lights and electronic sound effects all of which will give you a healthy dose of 1980s nostalgia. The games, which you can play for free include pinball, air hockey, foosball and ping pong. Check it out at aMUBUSH Gallery on Level 3 of The Living Mall in Chippendale.
