Illustrations with a personality

Her name is Helena Randall

She has the most amazing style. I think they are super clever and beautiful. Each illustration has a name and a personality. They have a job, interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes and secrets. I just love them and I love getting to know them all. Helena is located in LA. Her creativity is inspiring something every good graphic designer needs on a daily basis.

If you pick up the latest edition of frankie you can view more amazing work.

Stella Heart Cheeks is a little angry and looking for love (her anger is merely a reaction to her seemingly lost cause, she is generally noted to be quite charming)  Stella is getting impatient because she’s been searching for the big L for years and years and her friends are mostly all paired up. People always tell her she’ll find love when she least expects it. Stella doesn’t believe it to be true but is secretly hopeful.  S.H.C enjoys bike riding and making bundt cakes.  It’s her new thing.

Faux-Retro Movie Poster Designs

We came across these awesome poster designs of our favourite comic book heroes. All you design history nerds will recognise French illustrator’s Greg Guillemin‘s references! My favourite is #2 because I love A.M. Cassandre and basically every Travel Poster ever made. Keep an eye out for the folded paper effect that he has going on. Magical!

Check the rest out here. Also if you want to see a timeline of the history of Graphic Design check this out.

Our Favourite Illustration and Packaging Work

With the Create Awards just around the corner I thought I would blog about some of the packaging work we have created for Harris Farm Markets as they feature the illustrations we have been shortlisted for.

Harris Farm Markets approached Fresco to create packaging that reflected their brand, an all Australian owned market fresh fruit and veg store. The creative tone needed to be unpretentious, reflecting value for money, grass roots, family run and fresh from the farm. Fresco created a series of hand drawn custom illustrations for HFM, all displayed on a brown recycled stock. The result is an instantly recognisable brand that literally jumps off the shelf with its originality and point of difference. Below is a small selection of the work created so far …

Bram! Illustrator extraordinaire!

I came across this clever little gentleman on my designer friend Jimi Rowe’s blog, Design Makes Me Blush. Bram Vanhaeren has been working hard lately creating a repertoire of dreamy assemblage illustrations. We particularly like how galactic textures shine through vector shapes. Nice work man!

The illustration in it’s basic form…

Adding a little ‘astro’ magic with Photoshop…

…and voilà a nifty CD cover!
