Those of you who have been following our Fresco Creative posts probably realise by now that nothing makes me happier than combining my two passions – graphic design and food! To pour over beautifully photographed shots of absolutely gorgeous recipes combined with clever typography and layout makes me go weak at the knees, not that I ever get around to cooking these gastronomical delights! Some of may favorite design and food blogs include; What Katie Ate, Call Me Cupcake and the Food Department. If you need a little help coaxing your internal Martha Steward out of hiding, log on to these
Its on again … Sculptures By the Sea (is it really November already?! Eeeek!!) I took my 3 year old down to Tamarama to get ourselves some seaside creative inspiration. I have to admit a lot of whats on display is too abstract for my taste, I’m not really a huge fan of modern art/ sculpture. In saying that there were some real standouts for creativity and some exhibits revealed a great sense of humor – like the port-a-loo sculpture that was bolted shut and had a recording of someone banging and pleading to let them out! I loved; the aquarium of sea creatures made from the r
Graphic Designers love … beer clients! We are “brewing up” a very special new packaging design at the moment for one of our hottest new clients. We are very excited by this little chestnut but we can’t say too much SO this blog entry can serve as a little teaser! May we introduce Field Notes – a fabulous design for a fabulous idea, which should keep you occupied until we pop this new project up online. Keep your eyes on our website. Here’s what The Dieline had to say about Field Notes: “I’m not writing it down to remember it later, I’m writing it
As the owner of a graphic design agency is Sydney I often get asked what is the secret to our success… I think and believe it comes down to the relationships we have with our clients. This is what I think… Projects run smoothly when both the client and the designer are on the same page.To ensure that both parties are on the same page the designer or the account manager need to ask a lot of questions. Asking as many questions as possible is key to delivering a design project that meets expectations. It doesn’t matter what you are working on, be it a logo design re-branding a c
Graphic Designers love … photography! There are so many fantastic photography Apps for iPhones out there, that even the most average photo can be transformed into a gorgeous shot. There is one App though that really stands out, not so much for the filters, lens options and flash choices but for the wonderful graphics used … Hipstamatic! Graphic Designers are suckers for beautiful graphics and the retro camera graphics and literal way in which photos are taken makes me swoon. The studio has been busily snapping away building our Snapshop library, Hipstamatic is definitely my favorit
In the Fresco studio we have been sinking our teeth into some great packaging design projects, so I thought Id blog about some inspiring design Ive found whilst trawling the web for inspiration. Packaging is a very different animal to print and publication design, often there is a need for a sense of theatre to ensure the product jumps off the shelf into the consumers shopping trolley. I found this beautiful bottle designed by Spring Design Partners, Inc. in the States. I love how the rusty metallic of the label contrasts with the freshness of the blue bottle and the typography is to die for.
Graphic designers love … packaging design! It seems that there are quite a few new products being launched or about to be launched, as we are getting quite a few enquiries about packaging, so I thought I would go in search of some inspiration in this field. I visited a lovely site called thedieline.com which is an online magazine which was established in 2007 by Andrew Gibbs. The Dieline is dedicated to the progress of the package design industry and its practitioners, students and enthusiasts. Its purpose is to define and promote the world’s best packaging design, and provide a place wh
Graphic Designers love … Photography! I’ve been loving the task of building up our Snapshop library, spending the weekends with camera in tow looking for the perfect shot for our next client or Fresco project. I’m also loving trawling photography blogs for inspiration. I’m always blown away by the magic that Steve McCurry creates with his craft. Steve is a photo journalist whose images are both shocking and beautiful, often photographing third world countries in conflict, the challenges they face as well as the beauty they create despite their poverty. His images are so
