The Fresco crew headed off to Semi-Permament last week for a couple of day trips jam packed full of designer inspiration from a whole bunch of creatives. Highlights for me included Roman Coppola in the Google+ Hangout session, where we got to hear from Roman, his friends and family. Roman introduced us to his super cute mum who is a conceptual artist, along with cousin Jason Schwartzman, who had us all chuckling with his ‘The New Yorker App’ and words of wisdom on baby talk. The grand finale was Sheena the leopard who made a special guest appearance. Totally random couple of hours.
Earlier this year we played our part in Macquarie University’s O-week! We designed a range of 9 posters to show students what was on offer at their newly refurbished Gymnasium, the benefits of joining up to their Gym Membership Club and how to make the most of their Uni’s very comprehensive range of sports and fitness activities. The posters covered boot camp, group fitness, personal training, pool exercise, weight training, spin, yoga and even parkour classes! Off the back of that project we then designed a Sport and Fitness Marquee. Then THAT was such a hit that the Campus Experience D
At Fresco we love getting crafty! Annalisa is up to her ears in buttons and cupcakes, Lauren has embarked on her very first upholstery project and me, well I’m just getting into sewing! My mum used to own a fabric shop and teach ladies how to sew with stretch fabrics back in the ’90s, but it all started for me when I scored a fab little sewing machine from her, for my birthday recently! I call her Bernie. So, I thought I’d share a fabulous little hotspot that I have found online! Sew Weekly is a bit like an online sewing magazine and it has a great little section calle
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is talking about the beautiful new Koskela showroom and eatery in Rosebery called Kitchen By Mike. I’ve yet to visit, but as a Coogee local, Rosebery is only a quick hop, skip and a jump away. After reading reviews on other designer cool sites; Design Files, Fete Press to name a few I have been desperately trying to find a window of time to visit. The concept = seasonal food, cooked fresh each day after a trip to the market to see what’s good. Served canteen style, no bookings taken. Then, wander around and beg, borrow or steal (just kidding) a beautiful pie
There are 25 days to go until the Gold Week Telethon, held for Sydney Children’s Hospital. Our lovely clients over at 99 on York are getting involved by holding a raffle and donating money from the clubs’ sales to the charity. Each year, Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick touches the lives of over 326,000 children across NSW and beyond. Last year, Gold Week raised an impressive $1.68 million for the hospital, which is much needed to help the children. You can read more about the cause here and how you can help make a difference www.goldweek.org.au. Here are examples of ou
I love doing it all at Fresco but one of my favourite things is going on location and shooting for a design project. This was a photoshoot for Bankstown Sports Clubs’ InTouch magazine. We (Andrea) design this magazine for the club bi-monthly and it is great being involved in all aspects of the design. The photographer we are working with is the very talented Chris Walsh from Patrick Jones Studio.
Today on my creative blog trawl, I stumbled upon a cute little animation titled handmade typography by a textile designer who makes cool one off collectable pieces. Her website is called Abundance Of. Check out the animation on http://anabundanceof.blogspot.fr/2012/05/handmade-type.html. Fresco has just ventured into the world of video and video production so I’ve been getting very excited about the creative possibilities available with this medium and look forward to sinking our teeth into a great new video production.
