Harness Racing NSW was in the process of a rebrand when they approached our studio to design their annual report. What resonated with our graphic designers was the sense of motion and light in their rebrand, with a harness racer and horse created out of a flowing lines, and we replicated this in an annual report that was an attractive read while still maintaining the weight of a crucial business document. With our expertise in publications and printing, we could ensure production and delivery of this report to Harness Racing NSW’s stakeholders within a tight turnaround.
Through consultation with Harness Racing NSW, we designed a layout that balanced white space with neat tables and text blocks. The key here was to allow easy navigation of Harness Racing NSW’s information without causing reader fatigue, and our designers generated a series of crisp charts to avoid dense fields of text. All of the elements of this annual report were united through a palette of blue tints and shades, providing a focussed, elegant experience in line with Harness Racing NSW’s brand.
Bookending the annual report, and appearing in measured spaces throughout the publication, were a series of photos selected by our designers to connect the Harness Racing NSW brand to the landscape and community surrounding the organisation. Key image themes were rural landscapes under the sun and dynamic images of the horses themselves, often out-of-focus and in action. Overall, this was a successful publication in terms of clean design and evocative imagery.
