For over thirteen years, the Sydney Children’s Hospital has hosted an annual summer event known as the Silver Party. This festive evening is one of the SCH Foundation’s key fundraising galas, along with the winter season Gold Dinner, attracting hundreds of A-list guests from around Sydney and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the hospital each year. Fresco Creative has over several years worked with the SCH Foundation to design sophisticated invitations for these events.
As the location and theme for each party changes from year to year, our graphic designers play creative athletics when designing the invitations and each one takes on its own personality. When the Silver Party was hosted at Cockle Bay Wharf, we hinted at the effect of seeing the lights of the bars and restaurants pick up in the dark water at night to create an atmosphere of mystery and glamour. In contrast, the next year we created an elegant black and white cube evocative of beachside, summer lounging in the 1960s.
One excellent challenge for our team when working with organisations such as the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation is that as a not-for-profit, the less that can be spent on the invitations, the more there is to return to the hospital itself. This is a brief that puts our graphic design studio’s imaginations to the test, and it’s thanks to our relationships with a number of great printing suppliers in Sydney that we are able to supply projects as fancy as the Silver Party invitations without creating budget woes for the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
