There is something about buying a new book. Is it the smell of new paper or perhaps the instant desire to run your hand over the freshly pressed cover? Smiles form on dials worldwide and David Pearson is the magician behind these grins.
London based Pearson calls himself a typographer & book designer, but it is not just through my rose-tinted glasses that I think his clean & colourful designs spring from genius. Pearson has won at least three design awards a year for the last four years – it’s Pearson’s collaboration with Pengiun that really made him stand out on the map & make me want to bury myself under my doona wth a stack of fresh classics & a teapot of milky tea.
In this age of technology there is no doubt that Pearson is bringing books back.
